Brownie & Chocolate Mousse

Before going on the weekend break, I have accepted some requests from friends for this week. Turned out my schedule was quite tight, especially this coming weekend.

The first one was from a friend & his wife. They have requested for a Brownie & Chocolate Mousse.

While preparing requests from friends, dear daughter's surprise birthday cake is coming up. This will be the first time in 7 years that I'll be making something for her. Otherwise we'd be ordering the cake from someone else or buy from a bakery.

Wish me luck!

Weekend break

I was away during the Labour Day weekend. We managed to get onboard a cruise, which we were on standby. It was quite a last minute preparation, considering we only have about less than 24hrs to pack (I'm packing for 3 + myself).

I admit it has been a long time since I relaxed, despite being in the company of the kids. I would have thought of a getaway with just the hubby. But this short trip proved me wrong. I could actually relax even with the 3 little munkies... hee! Or is it all in the mind? Hhmmm.... Was I in desperation for relaxation that I managed to turn the negative to positive energy?

Anyways the kids enjoyed themselves although they weren't signed up for any programmes at the kids' centre (I thought the charge were too expensive per hourly). We spent most of the time either at the buffet food outlet or the arcade : )

This trip was also an early celebration of dear daughter's 7th birthday.

Now, back to work!

Strawberry Cream Cheese Tart

I made this Strawberry Cream Cheese in an impromptu attempt (yet again!). So instead of looking like a tart, it looks like my usual cheesecake (except the base is fluted). This is due to the fact that I have insufficient ingredient for the base.

Using homemade strawberry sauce (not jam), it set in nicely. Despite the lack of a full fluted chocolate base, it was as tasty as it should be. Yum!

Chocolate Cream Tart

The more I think about it, the more tempted I get to try out this sinfully rich chocolate dessert - Chocolate Cream Tart.

I would have loved to top it off with some berries, but because I was too excited to do this I cancelled my plan to make a trip down to the supermarket.

Sinful! (Do not attempt to try this if you're on a diet... Hee!)

Busy weekend

I was kept busy the past weekend. Took on two last minute requests - one from Lina & another from Noor Ain.

Lina requested for a simple Brownie - top(per)-less that is. But I couldn't just make a really plain-looking Brownie for her. So I melted some white chocolate & marbled it with the chocolate fudge.

She had also requested for a dozen Lemon Meringue Tartlets.

Noor Ain saw me uploaded the Turkey Bacon Quiche shot on FB about two weeks ago & asked if I bake it commercially. At the time I didn't. So when I finally did, she requested for one. I hope she enjoys it when it was delivered fresh & hot from the oven on Sunday morning. Great for breakfast or brunch.

I have recently become so interested in tarts & pies and have been very excited to try sweet & savoury pastries. I have, however, always contemplated on whether I should use Short Crust or Flaky for savoury pastries. Both, I think, are equally tasty and that explains my indecision.
